Bursaries

Bursaries will be available for individuals from sub-Saharan African countries that are able to present good-quality research in the development of new or improved drugs, vaccines and microbicides against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, or in other cross-cutting issues related to clinical trials in Africa such as ethics, regulatory affairs, capacity development and networking.
Receiving a bursary means that EDCTP will cover the following expenses:
- Forum registration fee
- Economy class return ticket to Tanzania
- Hotel costs for the duration of the Forum
- Forum social events
- Daily allowance (a limited allowance to cover for expenses that are not included in the registration).
Applicants for a bursary are requested to:
- Indicate on their registration form that they apply for a bursary
- Include with their registration an abstract in the research areas relevant to EDCTP. The abstract mys comply with the format described in the abstract submission guidelines, and the abstract template must be used for submission
- Include with their registration a concise CV (see CV template)
- Register and apply for a bursary before 1 May 2009.
A Scientific Review Committee will review and rank all bursary applications. The highest ranked applications will be awarded a bursary. All applicants will be informed of the outcome of the review before 15 June 2009.
