Participant categories
- Invited speakers: EDCTP is inviting keynote speakers from the political and the scientifc realm for the Forum’s plenary sessions. EDCTP will contact these speakers to make travel and accommodation arrangements.
- Bursaries: EDCTP aims to facilitate and fund participation of (up to 100) African individuals that apply for a bursary and will be able to present good-quality research in HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria or in other cross-cutting issues related to clinical trials in Africa such as ethics, regulatory affairs, capacity development and networking. Applicants that are awarded a bursary will be contacted by the EDCTP Travel department to make travel arrangements.
- EDCTP investigators: EDCTP intends to fund (up to 50) scientists that are involved in EDCTP-funded projects that submit an abstract and are able to present good-quality research in HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria or in other cross-cutting issues related to clinical trials in Africa such as ethics, regulatory affairs, capacity development and networking. After registration the travel department will contact these participants to make travel arrangements. Investigators involved in ongoing EDCTP-funded projects whose grants provide for costs for attending forums are encouraged to declare this on registration.
- Other particpants: All scientists active in clinical trials on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria performed in Africa, or in or in other cross-cutting issues related to clinical trials in Africa such as ethics, regulatory affairs, capacity development and networking can register and submit an abstract. Persons who are involved HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in other ways and wishing to attend the Forum are also invited to register online.
- EDCTP constituency members: To constituency members the normal policies for attending meetings apply. After registration, the travel department will contact EDCTP constituency members to make travel and hotel arrangements.
It is in the spirit of EDCTP to facilitate as much sub-Saharan African participants as possible. Forum attendees, especially from Europe, that have funds available to pay for themselves are therefore kindly encouraged to do so. Participants paying for themselves are responsible for making their own travel arrangements and covering the costs. EDCTP however has made a block booking of hotel rooms and negotiated a corporate rate in the Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge (the conference venue). The corporate rate is only available if the booking is made by EDCTP. If you prefer to stay in the Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge please send an email to travel[at]edctp.org.
